Wylam, Northumberland, UK - 2014.

One Saturday morning myself and friend John Moore, (Scona) went for a walk in Wylam, Northumberland.

This is a beautiful little village, which it is famous for being the birthplace of George Stephenson, one of the early rail pioneers. George Stephenson's Birthplace is his cottage that can be found on the north bank of the Tyne three quarters of a mile (1.2 km) east of the village centre. It is owned by the National Trust and is open to the public.

We also visited Wylam's own Railway Museum, which is situated in Wylam's Library. This is a beautiful little museum which shows displays of old photographs, models, posters and railway memorabilia, which were collected by local enthusiasts. The displays highlight the work of the railway pioneers, and the importance of Wylam Colliery Waggonway.

This Was A Nice Saturday Morning Walk.

Just to think, only about 11 miles from my home I can be into some beautiful countryside, within around a 18  minute drive.
